The exposition of the museum is situated in a house, build in 1877 by Bulgarian masters in "Baroque" style. Here you may see the typical woodcarved ceilings and doors, made by local masters - woodcarvers, descendants of the Debar woodcarving school.
The Historical museum has 12 exposition halls, lapidarium and an yard. In the archeological exposition are presented the Thracian chariot, Thracian ceramics, numismatic collection, marble statues and fragments from the Roman town of Nicopolis ad Nestum - II c. (archeological reserve, 7 km away from Gotse Delchev). The ethnographic exposition is aquatinting the visitors with the lifestyle of the population of the town and the region. There are exposed instruments and tools, clothes, musical instruments and the well developed during the Bulgarian Renaissance crafts: beltsmithing, copersmithing, pottery, manufacturing of goat tracks and homespun, goldsmiths and packsaddle manufacturing. |
