Permanent archeological exposition is set up in the exhibition hall "Asklepius" in the historic museum’s yard. Presented exhibitions and their wide chronological frame give visitors the opportunity to get information on the cultural-historical development of the region and to get deep back into the centuries - from 7th – 6th BC till 14th century. In the “Prehistory” section among the neolithic labour tools, pottery, objects for religious use, etc. there are the earliest pottery known to be found in the territory of Bulgaria, zoomorphic and anthropomorphic works of plastic arts and the unique model of a furnace with a moon calendar thought to be the earliest known in Europe. In the “Antiquity” section the pre-Roman Age is illustrated by funerary objects from a Thracian necropolis, jewelry, pottery, everyday objects, weapons. Roman Pautalia is represented by pottery, applications of chariots, busts and statuettes of gods from the Graeco-Roman pantheon, votive tablets of Zeus and Hera, Asclepius, Hygeia and Telesphorus, Mithra. A floor mosaic from Roman peristyle building is shown with the image of Hercules on it.Pottery, weapons, jewelry etc. present the Medieval town of Velbuzhd. |
