The archeological museum "Maritsa- East" was established in 1992. It has the main objective to organize and undertake any rescue archeological research in the region of the energy complex "Maritsa East".
According to its profile, the Archeological museum has 4 specialized collections: Prehistory, Ancient history, Middle Ages and Numismatics. Until the current moment the museum posses 2 762 units in the basic science-subsidiary collection. The museum undertakes intensive scientific-research activity, as a result of which 6 volumes of the series "Maritsa-East Archeological research" were published.
The Museum has palaeontological collection of bones of different animals, discovered mining works; the oldest ornaments of precious metals from the early culture - stage of the Early Bronze Age; collection of clay and bronze containers and golden ornaments from the Roman age, as well as numismatic collection of silver coins.
