Perushtitsa is a town with a rich history. The ruins of the Red Church, a unique monument from the fourth century, stand even today. Natural attractions and many archaeological objects and materials trace the cultural development of the region. The town is a witness to the residents' assertion of will and strivings for equality. |

The complex of the Historical Museum includes four exhibition halls. The exhibition in the museum building shows the course of the village's development from neolithic to present appearance. Additional exhibitions include the Historical Church of Saint Archangel Michael - a pantheon to the will for freedom and identity. The Danov School - the first grade school and hospital briefly during 1876 - functioned through the beneficence of Lady Emily Strangford.The ethnographic exhibition begins with the villagers' way of life - tools of labor, clothes, dishes, decorations. Archaeological objects, which include the early Christian basilica Red Church, the Roman road towards the Aegean region, and the remains of the monastery complex Saimj Theodore Tiron and Stratilat, are amongst the natural attractions of the region. |

April 27-th Committee |
During 1896, the April 27-th Committee was founded for the protection and preservation of the town's historical memory and the erection of a monument to the heroes of our national liberation. The representatives were participants in the April Uprising during 1876 - Father Georgii Tilevq Georgii Natev and Kosatdin Vitanov. During the same year, an exhibition was opened in the Historical Church of Saint Archangel Michael. At the time of the museum' s founding, there were three exhibition halls. In 1969, the museum complex including the previously noted buildings was formed. During 1979, it was expanded with the opening of new sections, enriching the museum' s cultural program.
