| Town Information |
The town of Veliko Tarnovo is situated in Central Northern Bulgaria and has unique natural and architectural characteristics. It was the capital of Bulgaria during XII-XIV century, a leading center in the wars for national freedom and cultural independency during the Revival period. After the Liberation, here was seated the first Parliament, and in 1908 the Independency of Bulgaria was announced. |

The house was built in 1861. The ethnographic exhibition "National art in the Veliko Tarnovo region" is situated in the restored Revival-style house. Separate events of the national work and process of wood, clay, stone, fabrics, are invariably connected with the traditional ritual system of Bulgarian people. In the museum exhibition attention is turned to the genesis and development of photography in Veliko Tarnovo from the end of XIX and the beginning of XX century. Due to the natural steep terrain, on five levels down from the river Yantra and two from Gurko street. The lower floors are used for basement and store-house. |
