In 1931 the building of the Museum was established as a House monument with the collected donations of the Donation Committee "G. Benkovski" in honour of the deceased people from Teteven in the wars for National Freedom. A museum collection is arranged, which was established in 1911 by the teacher of natural sciences Michail Koychev. With the passage of time the collection of the museum became more various and rich.
