The town of Troyan is situated on the banks of Beli Osam River. It is situated 160 kilometres North-Eastern from the capital Sofia, and 120 km North from Plovdiv, and 220 km south western from Rouse, 300 km away from the Black sea. The town is a Municipal center. It was famous as a center of crafts during the Revival period. |

The exhibition of the Museum of arts consists of 11 Halls. In each of them are presented different crafts-ceramics, wooden carvings and metal works, traditional fabrics and garments.

It was decide to establish the museum in 1962 after one science conference for the state of the crafts in Bulgaria. The town of Troyan was chosen for its establishment, because it is a famous handicrafts center. The exhibition was opened in 1968, for the occasion of 100 years since establishment of Troyan as a town. It is situated in the building of the first Troyan school built after the Liberation- 1881.
The museum is the only one such in the country.
