The museums are located west of the bus station.
Take bus № 20, 40, 50, or 110.
From railway station:
Bus: take № 4, 12, 13, 30, or 70 to the center, then № 20, 40, 50, or 110 to the bus stop "Tzarevez" Square. You can also each the museums from the center in about 30 minutes by foot and in about 5 minutes by taxi. |

The town of Veliko Tarnovo is situated in central Northern Bulgaria and has unique natural and architectural peculiarities. It was the Capital of Bulgaria during the period XII-XIV century, it was a leading center during the wars for national freedom and cultural independency during the Revival period. After the Liberation, the first National Assembly convened here, and in 1908 the Independency of Bulgaria was announced. |

The treasures of Veliko Tarnovo from the Neolitic period until the late Middle Ages are displayed in the exhibition. Original archeological findings illustrate the emergence of villages, the development of crafts and the bloom of arts in the region of Veliko Tarnovo. Bigger part of the exhibition is dedicated to the Second Bulgarian Kingdom XII-XIV century. A number of treasure exhibits are of great world heritage importance: for example the Hotnitsa Golden Treasure, golden and silver coins, golden ornaments and vessels from Thracian mounds, the Golden Medallion of Khan Omurtag, golden ring seals. |
